Acts Mobile Terminals
نویسندگان
چکیده
The development of the Advanced Communications Technology Satellite (ACTS) Mobile Terminal (AMT) and its follow-on, the Broadband Aeronautical Terminal (BAT), have provided an excellent testbed for the evaluation of Kand Ka-band mobile satellite communications systems. Such systems have proven viable for many different commercial and government applications. Combining emerging satellite communications technologies such as ACTS’ highly focused spotbeams with the smaller, higher-gain Kand Ka-band antenna technology, results in system designs that can support significantly higher throughput capacity than today’s current commercial systems. An overview of both of these terminals is presented in this paper.

Relations with the modeling of channel assignment problems on multi-hop wireless networks and edge coloring problems of graphs
Multi-hop wireless networks [1] are autonomous systems of mobile nodes connected by wireless links and consist of nodes and wireless links. The nodes are classified into two kinds: one is a mobile terminal such as mobile phone, personal computer, handheld computer, Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) and so on, each of which has a router communication function for other terminals and the other is ...
متن کاملSCARAB: Innovative Services Supporting User and Terminal Mobility
The paper presents the authors’ experience in designing and implementing secure smart card and agent-based telecommunication services supporting user mobility and service personalization. The work described here has been performed as part of the EU ACTS SCARAB project and is based on a service architecture that has been defined by the SCARAB partners. User mobility is achieved both by using sma...

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has been involved in the development of an experimental K(20 GHz) and Ka-band (30 GHz) satellite known as the Advanced Communications Technology Satellite (ACTS). The Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) has been commissioned to develop two different mobile satellite communication (satcom) terminals to operate with ACTS. The first terminal, wh...
متن کاملTerminal-Modality-Based Joint Call Admission Control Algorithm for Fair Radio Resource Allocation in Heterogeneous Cellular Networks
There is a problem of unfairness in allocation of radio resources among heterogeneous mobile terminals in heterogeneous wireless networks. Low-capability mobile terminals (such as single-mode terminals) suffer high call blocking probability whereas high-capability mobile terminals (such as quad-mode terminals) experience very low call blocking probability, in the same heterogeneous wireless net...
